source of ganges

As the source of the Ganga (Known as Bhagirathi until it reaches Devprayag ), Gangotri is one of the holiest places in India. Infect, the physical source of river is 19 kms further north at Gaumukh. This 18 century temple is dedicated to Goddess ganga. It is located near a sacred stone where king Bhagirath worshipped Lord Shiva. Tapovan, have a scenic beauty. It is the base camp for the Mt. Shivling. Mountaineers have their first base camp in Tapovan. The view of Bhagirathi's group of peaks & Shivling is magnificent. The alpine green meadow & a stream flowing down the Tapovan has also something special in it.

Day 01 : Drive to Gangotri (310 kms.), Hot lunch enroute. Dinner & overnight stay in hotel ( 3142mts.).

Day 02 : 14 kms. trek to Bhojbase ( 3792 mts.), with packed lunch. Dinner & overnight in camps.

Day 03 : 9 kms. trek to Tapovan ( 4625 mts.) via Gaumukh (4000 mts.), with packed lunch. Dinner & overnight in camps.

Day 04 : Rest.

Day 05 : 14 kms. trek to Chirbase ( 3400 mts.), via Gaumukh, with packed lunch. Dinner & overnight in camps.

Day 06 : 9 kms. trek to Gangotri ( 3142 mts.), with packed lunch. Dinner & overnight in camps.

Day 07 : Drive back to Rishikesh.
